Walking and hiking
The area has boundless opportunities for walkers and hikers. With 2 Monros (Sgor Gaihre and Carn Dearg) and 2 corbetts on the Estate itself., There are many more are nearby including the famed Schiehalion. One can take a train to Corrour and walk back 12 miles along the "Road to the Isles" which runs through the property. This ancient track was long used by drovers taking cattle from Skye to the great market in Stirling. Walk west towards Glen Coe, north towards Corrour or east towards Loch Rannoch or south to the lovely Glen Lyon and enjoy the superlative views the region is famed for. Opening the Ordnance Survey Explorer 385 on the kitchen table at home will provide hours of pleasant anticipation.

The roads around Dunan offer largely level cycling through some of the most scenic parts of the Highlands. From shorter local rides to Bridge of Gaur to more adventurous rides around Loch Rannoch, the roads around Dunan will not disappoint.

Bird watching
The 10 000 acres of Dunan encompass varied eco systems providing many differing habitats which encourage a wide range of birds to make the Estate their home or nesting grounds. Hen harriers, osprey, golden eagles, falcons and many other raptors are all seen here as well as many other LBJ s of interest to bird watchers

Doing absolutely nothing
This under rated activity is highly recommended. For far too many of our over stressed fellow citizens, holidays have become a competitive event. He , who bags the most munros , hikes the most miles or catches the most fish is hailed as a winner , even as he collapses at his desk , more in need of a holiday than before he left. May we suggest a selection of the books you’ve been meaning to read for years, a comfortable chair and our sheltered walled garden as an alternative. A week of pure Highland air, some moderate exercise and hours of doing absolutely nothing will have even the most jaded returning home truly refreshed and ready to take up the yoke once more.
